The company primarily supplies catering customers and community caterers (kindergartens, retirement homes, hospitals, etc.). The market environment is characterized by a very pronounced concentration and displacement competition by large-scale market-dominant suppliers. Nevertheless, the owners with 20 employees and approx. 400 customers managed to generate an EBIT margin of just under 7% through tight management and high flexibility.
The entire business was sold with inventory and the property. The sale took place for age reasons.

Due to the market situation, the search for a suitable successor was far more difficult than initially presumed in view of the business figures. In addition to the presentation of the sale offer on our well-visited corporate market, we first addressed market entrants. In this phase, there were several quite advanced talks with potential buyers, but they were soon unsuccessful due to lack of financial willingness of the banks. After convincing our client of the need for a vendor loan and extending our search to start-ups with industry-leading sales experience, we finally found a professionally savvy prospect who wants to build a business group and now uses the company and property as a basis. Overall, the implementation of the succession plan took more than two years due to the difficult market situation. Ultimately, however, a good solution was found in this way, so that the successful family business can go into good and experienced hands and the existing potential in the context of targeted product range expansions can be successfully expanded in the future.
